French Soft and White and Beige Avy Limestone
French Limestone is quarried in southwest France in the Charente region in an underground mine. Like all the Amare stone quarries, this quarry is maintained to the highest ethical standards and complies fully with the requirements of the Ethical Stone Register.
There are two versions of the stone currently quarried. The main one is the Avy Blanc which has a plain white background with white fossils and the occasional grey or brown shell fossil. The other less common version is the Avy Doré which has the same white background and shell fossils but with honey-colored clouds running through.
The bed height is in excess of 2 meters making the stone ideal for large structural masonry pieces.
French Limestone is one of the most noble limestones the world has known. It is considered the ultimate limestone for prestigious building projects due to the softness of the color palette and it’s durability. Although limestone is found in deposits all over the world, it is the French limestone that does hold in one’s memory as extraordinary.
French Limestone is widely regarded as the ultimate limestone for both internal and external use. It has been used in the most luxurious palaces worldwide but also in rural farmhouses, urban residences and commercial buildings. It is popular in both ancient and contemporary buildings around the world.
